Christmas Crafternoon Workshop with Senior Services

Tuesday, December 6 – It’s In the Bag
*Learn to make specialty gift bags like a Snowman or Santa as well as miniature gift bags for small treats or gifts. Make, decorate and take home your accomplishments for the day.

Wednesday, December 7 – Boxes, Bows and Trims
*A demonstration and presentation about the simplicity of decorating packages with paper will be followed by learning to make a gift box by folding and cutting paper. Cornucopia boxes for sachets or candy treats and working with vellum will be a special feature.

Thursday, December 8 – Angel Light Centerpiece
*Learn the method for cutting and sculpting paper angels to make a three-angel centerpiece with lights. You will be able to save this centerpiece for many years.

Each class is $10 per person OR you may take all three classes for $25. The cost includes all supplies. A minimum of four participants in order to hold each class. Participants are asked to bring their own “tools” (scissors, rulers, etc). Maxine Chauvaux will be the instructor. You may register by email at paperlady-32@centurylink.com or by calling the Granville County Center at (919)693-1930. Don’t miss out!

Low Income Energy Assistance Program- Application Assistance @ Granville County Senior Center- Stovall Location

Carolyn Trappiel, with the Granville County Department of Social Services, will be at all three of our senior centers this month to take applications for participation in the Low Income Energy Assistance Program.
Eligible households will no longer receive a check in February. Payments will be made directly to heating providers.

Every household must complete an application for LIEAP. Applications for LIEAP will be taken in December for households in which all members are age 60 and above or disabled people (receiving SSI, SSA, or Veteran’s disability) and receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services. Applications
for all other households will be taken January 1 through March 31 or until funds are exhausted. You must apply with the following: verification of all your household’s income, your household’s resources (such as savings and checking accounts, stocks, bonds
and other assets), and the name, date of birth and social security number for each household member. You must also provide your heating bill with the account number on it and if you are applying for someone else, a statement giving you permission to apply on their behalf. In order to be eligible, households must meet income
and reserve requirements, must be responsible for its heating bill and be a U.S. citizen or eligible alien. Applications will be taken at the Granville County Senior Center in Oxford on Tuesday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon; at the North
Granville Senior Center in Stovall on Wednesday, December 7 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon and at the South Granville Senior Center in Creedmoor on Friday, December 9 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
