Granville County Animal Management exists to protect the public from the introduction and spread of rabies and from incidence and harm from animals. It also protects domestic animals from neglect and abuse. Animal Management Officers are on-call daily to respond to rabies concerns, loose livestock, vicious dogs, at-large animals and reports of animal cruelty. This office should also be contacted for routine animal issues.
Animal Management is responsible for upholding and enforcing the Granville County Animal Management Ordinance, the State of North Carolina Regulations, and applicable Federal regulations. Animal Management also shelters strays and unwanted animals, providing proper living conditions, sanitation, nourishment, and basic healthcare while making every attempt to reunite with owners or re-home. It also works within the community to encourage vaccinations, spay/neuter programs and a spirit of volunteerism.
Granville County Animal Management is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. for all animal-related issues. If you have an emergency animal issue, please call 911 to contact the on-call Animal Management Officer, who is available 24 hours a day.
