Creative Lifelong Learning

Creative Lifelong Learning (CLL) is dedicated to providing opportunities to engage the mind, elevate the spirit, and foster the well-being of adult learners through a wide range of educational programs, physical activities, and social events. The program is modeled after the Osher LIfelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Duke and N.C. State Universities, as well as other Triangle-area senior center programming, and is funded through a generous endowment and by annual memberships, class fees, and donations.

Membership
Membership is required to participate in many of the classes, activities, events, and field trips offered through CLL. A non-refundable annual membership fee, payable at the Granville County Senior Center in Oxford, covers classes for one year.

Classes and Registration
Most classes are held during regular business hours at the Granville County Senior Center in Oxford, located at 107 Lanier Street. Class times vary in length, depending on format. Sessions may consist of one-day lectures/activities or may be scheduled on multiple dates for ongoing programming.

Registration is open to any Granville County adult age 50+. Non-senior adults and non-Granville County residents may register for classes if there are openings available.

CLL members may register for classes by calling the Center at (919) 693-1930.

Fees and Scholarships
Individual class fees are due at the time of registration. Fees are determined based on direct expenses incurred to provide the class. Some classes may require an additional cost for supply fees or materials. All fees are due before class starts.

To make online payments for CLL registration, please click here.

Please note that registration fees may be refunded for classes you will not be able to attend, but credit card payments are non-refundable. Classes cancelled by CLL will be credited or fully refunded. Trip registrations are not refundable unless there is someone on the waitlist that can take the vacant seat.

A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. If you need financial help to attend CLL classes, contact Senior Services Director Kathy May or CLL Coordinator Marilyn Howard at (919) 693-1930 for an application. All requests are confidential.

Instructors
Anyone with expertise in a topic of interest, or with a passion for a subject that may be of interest to others, may qualify to teach a class. Classes can range from one hour on a specific day or can extend for up to 11 weeks. Instructors can choose the day, the time, and the session that best suits their needs.
