Posted August 16, 2022

The Opioid Advisory Committee will hold its next regular meeting on Friday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. at the Creedmoor Community Center located at 108 East Wilton Avenue, Creedmoor. The meeting will be held in the Willow Oak Room, just beside the South Granville Senior Center on Douglas Drive.

Since 2018, the Opioid Advisory Committee has engaged in shared leadership and collective action to advance a comprehensive response to opioid and other drug use and the harmful impacts on the community by prioritizing and removing barriers to proven prevention, treatment, and harm reduction strategies. The committee is tasked with mobilizing existing resources, advising on and advocating for new programs, and encouraging informed and healthy community attitudes.

The committee is currently tasked with strategic planning in preparation for the funding that the county will receive as part of the 2021 NC Opioid Settlement that will provide funds to treat and prevent opioid addiction in North Carolina.

The committee holds regular meetings on the third Friday of each month. Starting with this Friday’s meeting the committee will begin holding regular meetings in other parts of Granville County to engage new parts of the community and make sure meetings are accessible to those who may want to attend and contribute. All meetings are open to the public and meeting dates, times, and locations can be found on the Granville County website events calendar.
