Granville County Celebrates Social Work Month

Posted March 9, 2022

Granville County Government and the Department of Social Services are celebrating National Social Work Month in March with the theme “The Time is Right for Social Work” to highlight how social workers have enriched our society for more than a century and how their services continue to be needed today.

The annual Social Work Month campaign is a time to inform the public, policymakers, and legislators about the services social workers provide in the community. People become social workers because they have a strong desire to help others and make our society a better place to live for all.

Social workers continued to work on the frontlines throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, helping clients get the health care they needed and helping loved ones overcome grief and loss. Social workers will continue to play a key role in helping people as this nation grapples with issues such as racism, economic uncertainty, deep political and cultural differences, and natural disasters.

Each day, social workers empower residents across Granville County to live life to their fullest potential. The job of social workers in Granville County and across North Carolina never stopped during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our dedicated social workers have been on the frontlines and in the community and will continue to be here to serve the most vulnerable members of Granville County. Be sure to thank a social worker this month, and learn more about this challenging and rewarding profession.
