County operations delayed for two hours

Please be advised that, due to inclement weather and road conditions, offices of Granville County Government will operate on a two-hour delay on Thursday, January 28. The National Weather Service had upgraded the Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Weather Warning overnight for Granville, Person, Vance, Warren and Halifax Counties. Snowfall amounts have ranged from 1 to 2 inches, with 4 to 5 inches in the Virginia border counties. Only a trace of additional snow is expected, mainly east of the Triangle, through 8 a.m., with precipitation ending by mid-morning.

Some slick spots on the highways are likely. All residents are urded to use extra caution when traveling. Granville County Emergency Management advises that sunlight and drier air will be moving in later this morning, which will help melt most of the snow throughout the day.

Isolated patches of black ice are possible mainly along and north of Hwy 64 on the night of Jan. 28 and extending into the morning of Friday, Jan. 29 as temperatures drop into the teens and 20s.

If conditions warrant in our area, additional announcements will be made and posted here on the Granville County website, the Granville County Facebook page and Code Red for employees
