NOTICE: An auction will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 21 at 5 p.m. at the Granville County Animal Shelter. Auctioned off will be two commercial hogs, both males (castrated) and weighing between 100 and 125 pounds, one with black head and pink body and the other primarily pink in color. These animals were collected by Animal Control on July 19 and have been impounded since that date.
While the owner had tried to redeem these animals on July 23, within the specified lawful time frame, he was not willing to pay the redemption and boarding fees that had been accrued.
By General Statute (NCGS 68-20), any unredeemed impounded livestock is to be auctioned to the general public after notice is given stating the place, date and hour of the sale on the website of the Sheriff’s office.
The Granville County Animal Shelter is located at 5650 Cornwall Road in Oxford.
