Planning Board

 

The Granville County Planning Board is authorized under North Carolina General Statutes 153A-321. 

The function and duty of the Board is to make comprehensive surveys and studies of existing conditions and probable future developments. The Board is responsible for preparing such plans for physical, social, and economic growth, as will best promote the public health, safety, convenience, or the general welfare and efficiency and economy in the development of the County.

The Planning Board serves at the pleasure of the Board of County
Commissioners and reviews and makes recommendations
to the governing body.

Number of Members

Seven (7)

Qualifications, Special Professional Classifications, etc.  
A Planning Board Member must reside within the County and must be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. A member shall be appointed from County Townships or combinations of County Townships and two (2) at-large.

Length of Terms
The initial appointments are two (2) members serving for one (1) year, three (3) members serving for two (2) years, and two (2) members serving for three (3) years. Their successors shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years.

Meeting Schedule & Location
The Granville County Planning Board meets on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. if there are agenda items to consider. Please visit the events calendar, or call the Planning office (919-603-1331) to confirm if the meeting will be held.
