The Granville County Board of Commissioners held a regular meeting on Monday, March 4 at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center. The meeting featured the approval of the 2024 Recreation Master Plan developed by McAdams Company in conjunction with the Granville County Parks, Greenways, and Recreation Committee. The plan was developed in 2022 and 2023 with significant public input and will help guide the expansion and development of new parks and greenways over the next decade. More information about the plan is available on the Granville County website.
The Board of Commissioners also received an update from the Granville County Library System Board of Trustees about activities and programs at the county’s four library branches. Some recent achievements and initiatives by the Library Board include the establishment of a historic marker at the location of the former Granville Street Colored Library in Oxford that operated from 1942 – 1975, teen cooking competitions, and receiving a local oral history collection from James Edward McCoy.
