Granville TDA Receives Honor for Festival Season Marketing Campaign

Posted January 5, 2023

The Granville County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) was recently awarded a top honor for marketing from the North Carolina Travel Industry Association (NCTIA). The TDA earned the Gold Award in the Leisure Marketing category for the “Festival Season in Granville County” campaign.

As with many communities in North Carolina, fall is considered “Festival Season” in Granville County. When the hot summer gives way to cooler temperatures, vacation travel subsides, and people start to “rediscover” their local and regional offerings.  During “Festival Season,” Granville comes alive weekend after weekend with events and festivals. September brings the North Carolina Hot Sauce Contest and Festival to Oxford followed by the Creedmoor Music Festival. October means the Masonic Home for Children Homecoming celebration and the opening of the Granville Haunt Farm. Sprinkled in along the way are fall festivals, art shows, and other events.

The initial objective of the campaign was to promote a return to normal in a post-COVID world. In the case of tourism events, that meant getting engagement and attendance levels back to where they were in 2019. Granville TDA’s marketing objective was to direct the audience to the Visit Granville NC web site. The “Festival Season” campaign resulted in a total of 550,000 impressions, a 93% increase in traffic, 95% increase in users, and a 116% increase in page views by the end of the campaign.
