Comm. David Smith recognized

Granville County Commissioner David Smith has been recognized with the Jim and Nancy Smith Citizenship Award for his dedicated service to Granville County Crime Stoppers. The presentation was made at the third annual Crime Stoppers Awards Banquet Tuesday night at the First Baptist Church in Creedmoor. The award is named for Jim Smith and  Nancy Smith, who have been instrumental in the work of Crime Stoppers over the years.

Commissioner Smith is former Granville County Sheriff and serves as Crime Stoppers’ Vice-President.

Many other recognitions were also awarded to members of law enforcement of Granville County, Oxford, Creedmoor, Butner, Stem and Stovall, as well as awards being given to supporters of the organization.

The purpose of Granville County Crime Stoppers is to help make Granville County a safer place to live, work, and raise a family by assisting law enforcement in the fight against crime. Crime Stoppers is comprised of members of the community, the media, law enforcement agencies and businesses that work together to help solve crimes.
