Congressman Butterfield to visit area on Aug. 2

The City of Oxford, in partnership with Granville County, will welcome Congressman G.K. Butterfield on Aug. 2 for a tour of the area. Economic growth, a renewed commitment to Oxford’s downtown area and successful county-wide business retention and recruitment have caught the attention of North Carolina’s District 1 Representative, who will begin his tour in Downtown Oxford at the future site of Tobacco Wood Brewery, owned and operated by Mara and Paul Shelton, Jr. – the only Veteran-Woman owned brewery in the state. From there, Butterfield will begin a walking tour of the downtown shops and businesses.

The partnership between the County and the City is evident in attracting new jobs, with industry expansions from Revlon and Shalag and new business openings such as RiceWrap. With these new jobs come new residents and first time home buyers, resulting in a city and county poised for growth and opportunity. This economic impact and growth is the driver for Congressman Butterfield’s visit to Oxford and Granville County.

North Carolina’s first Congressional District, represented by Butterfield, includes 24 counties across the state.
