Municipal Solid Waste Landfill

Granville County Environmental Programs
Chapter 130A of the North Carolina General Statutes requires counties to provide adequate disposal for municipal solid waste and recycling in accordance with the goals established in the County’s Solid Waste Management plan. Granville County achieves this through two methods:  (1) operation of seven fully staffed convenience/recycling centers, (2) operation of a Subtitle D Municipal Solid Waste Landfill (MSW), and (3) negotiation and maintenance of a collection franchise that ensures the availability of residential collection services at a uniform rate throughout the County.

Information
Granville County opened the MSW landfill in May of 2013. The landfill, located at 6595 Landfill Road in Oxford, is designed to take care of Granville County’s disposal needs for the next 100 years. A special liner consisting of several barriers keeps harmful pollutants out of the groundwater to protect the environment.

Hours of Operation
The facility is open Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Fees
In-county and out-of-county wastes are $45/ton.

The facility accepts waste from Person, Vance, Franklin, Wake, Durham, and Granville Counties. Residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional wastes are accepted.

Please review the list of landfill banned items or call the Program Office at (919) 603-1354 with any disposal or recycling questions.
