Board of Adjustment

The Granville County Board of Adjustment is authorized under North Carolina General Statutes 153A-345.  

The function and duty of the Board is to hear and decide appeals and review any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official charged with enforcing the Granville County Zoning Ordinance. This Board shall also hear and consider any and all requests for variances and conditional use permits from the public at-large, and arguments regarding zoning district boundary interpretation.

Number of Members
Seven (7) plus two (2) alternates.

Qualifications, Special Professional Classifications, etc.   
A Board of Adjustment Member must reside within the County and must be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners.

Length of Terms
The initial appointments are four (4) members serving for three (3) years, three (3) members serving for two (2) years, and two (2) alternate members serving for two (2) years. Their successors shall be appointed for terms of three (3) years.

Meeting Schedule & Location
The Granville County Board of Adjustment meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. if there are agenda items to consider. Please visit the events calendar, or call the Planning office (919-603-1331) to confirm if the meeting will be held.
