Granville County prides itself on a diverse offering of educational opportunities, from early childhood through higher education. There are 17 schools in the Granville County Public School System.
Elementary schools offer choice programs in character education. The arts, healthy/active living, a global focus, character education, S.T.E.A.M., and project-based learning. Three secondary schools provide challenging programs in engineering, robotics, health sciences, business and entrepreneurship, JROTC, veterinary sciences and industrial trades.
In partnership with Vance-Granville Community College, Granville Early College enables students to graduate with a high school diploma and an Associates Degree.
Granville Academy offers an innovative and flexible blend of online and in-person learning that serves as a model for school districts in the state.
In addition to the Granville County Public School System, there are two charter schools located in the county, each providing instruction for grades K-12, a rigorous college preparatory curriculum, small classroom sizes and a personalized learning experience.

Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) offers more than 40 curriculum programs, including logistics, mechatronics and welding. There are four VGCC campuses to serve Vance, Granville, Franklin and Warren Counties, as well as online courses and training programs. Students can take courses during the day, at night or online.

Across North Carolina, there is also a seventeen-campus state university system, more than 50 additional community colleges and thirty-six private colleges and universities. Many of these are a short distance from Granville County, which is in close proximity to Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 88 percent of Granville County residents have earned a high school diploma or have attained a higher degree at community colleges or at four-year universities.
