North Carolina maintains a uniform court system with courthouses in every county. Downtown Oxford is the home of Granville County’s courthouse. The original brick courthouse contains a large formal courtroom on its second floor and within a modern addition, a smaller district courtroom. Offices in the courthouses include the Granville County Clerk Superior Court, the Register of Deeds Office, and the District Attorney’s main office.
North Carolina trial courts are held in the courthouse including: civil, criminal, juvenile and domestic district court; and civil and criminal superior court. Small claims court is held in Magistrate Court located adjacent to the Granville County Sheriff’s Department. The Clerk of Court’s office also includes estate and special proceedings divisions.
