A celebration to mark the 275th Anniversary of the founding of Granville County was held on Saturday, July 24 at the Granville Athletic Park (GAP), with many in attendance to show support and pride in their community.The event kicked off with the dedication of the Phase III expansion of the GAP at 9 a.m. New park amenities include tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, a pavilion area, a playground, a fitness station, and open activity space.
Opening ceremonies for the 275th anniversary followed, with a day-long event that featured food trucks, children’s activities, vendors, live entertainment, a book signing by author Lewis Bowling, exhibits, a student art display and fun for the entire family.
The commissioned book, Looking Back, 275 Years of Granville County History, and souvenir coins are still
available.
