1/5/2017 @ 9:05AM – The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for our area, effective Friday through Saturday. A Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of significant Winter Weather. Forecast models continue to converge on snowfall starting late Friday evening/night and continuing through Saturday afternoon. Confidence is still low on the exact amount of accumulation but there is a moderate probability of 4″ or more in our area. Continued cold air over us will contribute to longer effects from any frozen precipitation before it clears. Please make plans to stay indoors and off the roads during the storm for travel safety and to allow NCDOT to clear the highways adequately. We will continue to monitor the storm’s progress and take appropriate actions. Please stay tuned to local television and radio for the latest information, or visit the National Weather Service website at http://www.weather.gov.
